Welcome to my blog!
With a deaf special needs child, a hubby, and two typically developing children, I am so excited to have an outlet that can be a resource to other families.
Here I will talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. Parenting is challenging enough! Throw in a couple of wrenches (like missing parts of chromosomes) in the process and it’s down right impossible at times. But what I’ve found is that in those impossible times, if we rely on others to help carry us through, we make it out. The light at the end of the tunnel slowly emerges just when we’re about to give up and throw in the towel. Good friends and confidants truly are a gift and a life-saver!
My goal in life is to thrive. I don’t want to “just make it.” I figure that I have to go through it no matter what. Every day I have to get up. So the more I can genuinely feel a smile in my heart and let it travel up to my face, the better! I will continue to bleach my pooped on bathroom. Every single day I will need to make sure there are 3 square meals and a trillion gazillion snacks in between! There will never be a moment that my duty of being a mom to my three boys will ever not be there. So how am I going to live it? Oppressed? Depressed? maybe sometimes….
But the majority of the time, due to the community we have surrounding us, our lives are happy and wonderful. They’re full of peace and love and joy and hope. With the right goals, we see our family brimming with success. Because ultimately it doesn’t matter what someone can or can’t do…what they can or can’t hear…how much money they make…or what they have to ‘show’ for themselves. At the end of the day, love is all that matters. As long as love wins, we win.
Stay tuned for what our actual journey looks like!
